White River Workshop is an independent theatrical design and fabrication company in South Central Indiana. Established in 2012 in San Francisco, CA by Rachel Kerns, White River Workshop offers scenic, properties, and lighting designs, scenic art, and scenic and props fabrication for a range of productions and events as well as custom creations including costumes, properties, textiles, and soaps.
Rachel Kerns has been participating in amateur, educational, and professional theatre productions since 2005. In 2012, she graduated cum laude from San Francisco State University in San Francisco, California with a B.A. in Technical Theatre and Design and, in 2015, graduated from The Lir at Trinity College Dublin, in Dublin, Ireland with a Master of Fine Arts in Stage Design.
Prior to her acceptance into The Lir’s MFA Stage Design course, she designed and constructed props for San Francisco-based theatre companies, including 99Stock Productions’ 2012 submission to the New York International Fringe Festival Edward Gant’s Amazing Feats of Loneliness! (Recipient of FringeNYC Overall Excellence Award for Overall Production). She has since been fortunate enough to participate in a range of different productions including Terminus (January 2014) with Galway-based ThereisBear!, Into the Woods (May 2014) and Midsummer (August 2014) with The Lir, Spinning (October 2014) with Dublin-based Fishamble, and Speed of Light (August 2016) and Spell Eternity (May 2017) with San Francisco-based Quantum Dragon Theatre.
She is currently accepting commissions and making and selling historical garb for local events in Southern Indiana.
